Concept
One of my favorite footwear design projects is a collection of designs specifically focused on the different modes of urban mobility. I conceived of the idea of a line of shoes for Reebok Classics that would focus on skateboarding, biking, public transit & air travel. I broke down each mode of transportation into its essential functional needs, and then further into three distinct styles that shared those functional objectives.
From an aesthetic perspective, I wanted each style to be identifiable as a product of the ‘Classics’ category, but also have a distinctly contemporary feel with classic details executed in unexpected or asymmetrical ways. My goal was to push the boundaries of what a Classics customer would expect, while also having enough breadth as a collection that most people would identify one model as their favorite.
